Privacy and data

What stays locally, and which services receive requests for accounts, content and AI.

Windows 10 (19041+) · x64 / ARM64 · PoC

Start with the capability you use

Basic game management primarily uses local data. Microsoft sign-in, external authentication, online content and online AI connect to their respective services. You do not need to configure an optional capability you are not using.

This describes the current implementation, not promises about other services' data practices.

Local data

The default .rmcl folder inside your user profile stores instance records, game content, configuration, account registrations, backups, AI conversations and task records. Packaged app preferences also use the current Windows app package's data location.

Skin projects retain editable content and history. Submitted AI reference images remain with related conversation records. Unsent text is a window draft, not a saved conversation.

Minecraft and mods also write their own configuration, worlds and logs.

Credentials

Secret account and AI service credentials are protected locally with Windows DPAPI. Normal authenticated model requests still send the appropriate API credential to the chosen provider. Local protection does not remove that authentication step.

Do not assume the data folder, account configuration or complete logs are safe to publish. Reinstalling Windows, changing devices or deleting local data can affect credential availability.

Accounts and online content

Microsoft sign-in communicates through Microsoft and relevant Minecraft service flows. External accounts connect to the authentication provider you choose.

Online content search, version queries and downloads request Modrinth and actual file sources. Game and Java preparation also contact version and download sources. Proxies and mirrors can change the network path.

There is currently no default CurseForge online service, and no CurseForge API key is read. Source information in offline packages is retained.

What an online model receives

The chosen model provider receives the conversation, task instructions and the context actually included to complete the task. Depending on the request, this may include instance information, errors, tool results, authorized file excerpts and submitted images.

The provider processes this under its own rules. Read its privacy and billing information. Do not include private material or someone else's secrets that you do not intend to send to that service.

Granting a folder does not upload it all. Actual access still has folder, read/write and tool permission limits. Previously read information can also remain in later context. Narrowing access cannot retract data already sent.

A local model reduces the need to send inference content to an online provider. Web, content search or other online tools can still make network requests if enabled.

Search and website reading

AI search may request the Mwmbl search service. Reading a page contacts the target site, and network handling can involve Cloudflare public DNS. Those recipients receive the query, address or network information involved in the actual request.

Turning off AI web tools does not disconnect an online model. File and network access also have independent controls.

This documentation site

The documentation site does not include analytics, advertising or a remote search service. It stores your theme choice in the browser and loads a static search index. Visiting the site does not read your local game folder or send launcher conversations to this website. Hosting services may process routine request information; the website does not use it to build player profiles.

Deleting and sharing

Use the corresponding feature to manage accounts, conversations, instances and projects. Removing account registration, deleting game files, removing conversations and clearing backups have separate scopes.

Exported files, extra copies, shared reports and requests received by third parties need handling at their respective locations. Before sharing, follow Feedback and logs to check for keys, private addresses and personal paths.
